About

A medical student's notebook,
opened to the public.

Profunda began as a personal curiosity: how does a field as old and as intricate as plastic and reconstructive surgery actually move forward? The answer, it turns out, lives in conversations — between surgeons, residents, device makers, and patients — more than in any single paper.

Each episode is a long-form interview with a practitioner shaping the field, or a dispatch from a conference where tomorrow's tools are being unveiled. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is sponsored.

If you'd like to be featured, write in — Profunda is always looking for the next conversation worth having.

About me
Guy Oster, fourth-year medical student at VU Amsterdam

Profunda is made by Guy Oster, a fourth-year medical student at VU Amsterdam Medical School. What started as curiosity about plastic and reconstructive surgery turned into a long-form project: sit down with the people shaping the field, ask the questions a textbook can't answer, and publish the conversation in full.
